1. I actually have memories that pre-date my brother. I'm not quite four years older than he is, so...I'm not sure how old I was in some of them...
2. I remember my mom driving me to daycare. I remember sitting in the front seat, holding in my lap a two-pack of those chocolate cupcakes with the white swirlies across the top. Mmm...still love those things!
3. I remember what our house looked like, except for the bathroom - I don't remember anything about the bathroom. Or my parents' bedroom. But I remember that my sister and I shared a room and we had bunk beds. I remembering listening to her tell a story about having squished a spider on the window, and then repeating it, saying that I had squished a spider on the window, too. She got mad and said something like, "You're just saying that because I said it!" (Why, yes, I was!)
4. I think there was a swingset in the backyard of that house. And I think there were concrete steps leading to the backyard from the back door, which, I think, opened into the kitchen.
5. I remember sitting next to my dad on the couch, while he was watching t.v. (a basketball game?) and yakking his ear off about...something...and realizing that I was annoying him while he tried to watch t.v. I remember trying to explain something and really wanting him to understand, but I could see that he didn't.
6. I don't remember moving out of that house and into the next one, and I don't remember when my brother was born. But I do remember him as a baby...a little bit. I remember him better as a toddler, walking around and biting - I remember thinking it was funny to stick my finger in his mouth and let him bite me...until it started to hurt, then it wasn't so funny any more.
7. I remember my bedroom in that house - my bed had a Rainbow Brite bedding set, complete with canopy.
8. I remember the names of some of the kids in my kindergarten and first grade classes. I remember the names of my teachers.
9. I remember a babysitter (a nanny, maybe? possibly when my brother was a very small baby?) that didn't speak any English, and didn't seem to understand me - and I remember getting upset when she didn't. I remember my sister being there and explaining things to her for me. I remember getting mad once because I asked the sitter for cereal, but she stuck it in the microwave and tried to give it to me hot! Haha, I actually think that's kind of funny, looking back! I mean, seriously, who eats hot corn flakes and milk?
10. I also remember spilling sugar on the dining room floor and then pretending not to have seen it. Then my sister stepped in it.
11. Last one for now - Isabel's bugging me for the computer: I remember trying to make chocolate-covered banana slices with my sister, only the chocolate wouldn't harden, no matter how long we left them in the fridge (or was it the freezer?)...because we were using chocolate syrup!
