Holy Exploding Eyeballs!!

If I could have custom-ordered my kids before they were born, I definitely would have checked the "looks like me" box on the invoice. Ha-ha! Ha! Ha-ha-ha-ha! Ha! Careful what you wish for! What I actually got was two kiddos who "SEE like me" - as in, they have my same, awful eyesight!

Yep, I just took Nicholas and Leila to the optometrist today to get their eyes examined and...WOO!! They've been hanging out at Grandma's house on and off since school let out and Grandma first noticed Leila having trouble seeing the t.v. from across the room. Then Nicholas was sitting too close to the t.v. practically All. The. Time. Followed by one of his eyeballs almost freakin' EXPLODING - all of a sudden, it got all red & swollen shut. We spent Friday night in the ER and we didn't even have any partying to show for it.
:)

Turns out, Nicholas had "The Pink'n Eye", as Isabel called it. And along with The Pink'n Eye, the ER nurse discovered that he also could not see. I mean, he REALLY. CAN'T. SEE.
His pediatrician confirmed this for me yesterday, diagnosing him with 20-100 vision - yikes! And since Leila had been having a hard time seeing across the room, too, I schlepped 'em both to the optometrist this morning! (Oh, AND she has this weird rash around her eye, but not in it, so...no Pink'n Eye, but suspicious timing, nonetheless.)

And sure enough, they needed glasses. And even though they both kinda whined and grumbled about not wanting them, they took one look at the racks and racks of frames and they were sold! They tried on pair after pair of glasses, made faces at themselves in the mirrors, stacked two and three pairs on at a time, and eventually chose the perfect frames!
Check 'em out:

Leila in purple frames.
