There's This Sweet Little Girl I Know...

...her name is Leila, I love her and she's mine! Leila's been hanging out at Grandma's house since summer started and let me tell you, I miss her! I was missing my Nicholas, too, because he was hanging out with Grandma, as well. But he had to come home recently when he came down with a ragin' case of what Isabel has dubbed "The Pink'n Eye". Isabel was glad to get him back, but she's missing Leila, too.

Anyhoo, since I've been more than just a little lazy in the blog department, I thought I'd delegate the task out to my Leila and she rose beautifully to the challenge! Leila's Latest Love is this doll my mom gave her. And not just any doll, but Quite A Magnificent Doll (if I do say so myself); an American Girl doll, to be exact. And the Dolly Love of my Leila's life is not just any American Girl doll, it's THE American Girl doll that my mom gave me when I was, oh, I don't remember, but a little older than Leila, I think. My mom also found the accompanying book to Leila's doll at a thrift shop for Quite A Bargain, which has kept Leila reading quite intently!

And Leila hasn't merely been playing with dolls and reading (pshaw! Play with a doll! She tends very carefully to her friend!), she's been cultivating her natural talent as a writer. Behold!

Samantha and Me

Samantha is an American Girl doll. She was my mommy’s doll. Mommy saved the doll for me. Samantha is very nice. She loves to read with me. And she loves to dance and sing. She will hug you and she will kiss you. She can watch a show with me. She does a lot of things like me. I read a story to Samantha every day.

Her best friend is Nellie they have lots of fun together. They play games and Samantha feeds Nellie cookies. Samantha also teaches Nellie stuff because she gets teased a lot. And the teacher is mean because she does not know the answers. Samantha and I have a lot of fun together.

Grandma and I made Samantha a sleeping bag. I picked out the material and Grandma sewed it for me. We bought Samantha a bed and a blanket with a pillow. We got a mattress and a bear. She loves everything we do for her.

Can she get an enormous round of applause, please? Bravo, Leila! How sweet is that?! And for a visual?
